A Divine Graduation

Carl is graduating today, now actually as I write, from the Yale Divinity School. We took these great shots on Saturday as a way for him always to remember his years here in New Haven. And the Div School's architecture is amazing, so it made for the perfect shoot.

One Year and going Strong!

(These recent pictures of us were taken by Ashley Bryant. She and Newel weren't quite getting the modeling down, so I had her step behind the camera while Jordan and I showed her a few tricks. LOL.)

Tradition says that couples save the top layer of their wedding cake in the freezer to be eaten on their first anniversary. The top of our cake made it to one of our parent's houses- we're not really sure which one- and we'd investigate, but it never even made it to their freezer, let alone ours. I suppose that's what happens when you get married and still have younger siblings at home. So we decided we'd make our own cake today as part of our anniversay celebration. It tasted good, but the fact that you won't find a picture of it in this blog post is meant to be self explanatory. It was the awfulest looking cake ever. It totally stuck to the pan and then the frosting. But some things in our mariage do go right, like pretty much every day together. We are so blessed to have the great marriage that we do. So I thought it would be fun to celebrate on my blog with some of our wedding pictures.

I took my bridals on campus at the University of Utah. I loved college! And the flowers are of course one temple square in Salt Lake City. (Notice the flowers were absent in our wedding pictures. The day before we were married the grounds keepers tore out all the flowers and we managed to get married before any new ones made it in the ground.)

We also wanted to think of something creative to do that would relieve the stress of worrying over anniversary gifts each year so we came up with the idea for an "Anniversary Box." Each year we'll sit down and decide on five favorite moments of things we've done through out that past year and then we'll search of a trinket or something small to symbolize them. We'll store each year's picks in our box. I suppose eventually we'll need a bigger box, but for now, check out how cute our first box turned out.

I won't expound on the boxes content, except to add one more photo showing the best part of our first year together.

Yep. We're totally pregnant. We won't know what we're having for a while, but until further notice Ashley Bryant has decided that we're having a darling little girl named Ella.

And last, but not least, I wanted to post one of my all time favorite images from our wedding. It was taken before we were maried in Deweyville by my little sister Laura. We didn't have professional equipment, but I loved how this shot turned out anyway.

Better than Christmas Decorations

We blocked up an old man's stairway taking some of these pictures. We offered to move, but he said we were fine and returned back into his house. Only he never quite shut the door. Who wouldn't want to peak out with these three on his stairwell. After we finished, we past him in the parking lot, where Laura graciously thanked him for letting us use his stairs. He assured us it was no problem and that nothing as beautiful of them had been around "these parts" for a while. He said they were "better than Christmas decorations."
